Russell Owen - authorised representative of Total Financial Solutions Australia Limited

"After starting out as a draughtsman in 1966, and then moving to sales with Ramset in 1976, I soon realised that selling was where I was meant to be. I achieved NSW salesman of the year a number of times with Ramset. My brother Kevin, who at the time was in management with Prudential noticed my achievements and encouraged me to look into selling insurance. In 1979 I took his advice and have not looked back, with numerous contacts in the building industry I went about building a successful business. A number of these contacts are still my clients to this day. I am a qualified financial planner and general insurance broker."

Garry Stuchbery - authorised representative of Total Financial Solutions Australia Limited

Garry is the most recent addition to the "Owen Team" joining in August 2010.

He is however a 35 year + veteran of the Financial Planning Industry, having commenced with City Mutual Life early in 1978. At the time he was based in Mt Gambier in South Australia and believes that isolation led him to be an "early adopter" of strategies, concepts and ideas.

"I read in industry magazines about what was happening in the "big smoke" and thought I should be doing that, not realising that only the top 1% of people were"

This led to incorporating in 1983, having a business plan by 1985, employing his own staff, purchasing an office building in 1990; and generally operating as a pseudo franchise rather than as an agent or employee of a bank or insurance company.

"I have been representing my client the whole time and always acting in their best interest; so that I kept them as clients and built repoire with them - it is much nicer dealing with people who like you and trust you rather than the reverse."

Due to his children’s study, sport and interests the Stuchbery family left Mt Gambier in 1998 and Garry sold that practice in 2002. His next seven years were spent based in Hong Kong and working across Asia for various institutions.

On returning to Australia he contracted to Westpac for 10 months before becoming reacquainted with Kevin Owen who offered him a role in running one of the Owen businesses. Garry is now a partner and shareholder in the combined operations of three of those family concerns trading as " The Owen Advisory Group ."

"Our dealer group is Total Financial Solutions Australia Limited and I was really proud to be awarded their Financial Planner of the year award in 2012"

Garry is a member of the FPA and has his DFP and as a result of this combined with industry experience and ongoing commitment and study is permitted to use the CFP designation.
